Youth Fundraiser: Punahou Carnival Parking • Feb. 7–8

some of the volunteers who helped with the fundraiserEach year, the LCH youth (with help of others from the congregation) hold Punahou Carnival parking fundraiser. The carnival takes place this Friday and Saturday, February 7 and 8.

The youth and their leaders need adult and youth volunteers for three-hour shifts during the carnival on both days. Event coordinators provide snacks and drinks, flashlights and safety vests, and you provide the fellowship!

Funds raised will support youth activities throughout the year, including attendance at the Western Youth Gathering at California Lutheran University this coming summer.

If you’re going to the carnival, please park at LCH. We have the closest lots, and your donation support our youth throughout the year. Parking in $15 (no in-out privileges), and the lots are open from 10:45 am to 11:30 pm both days.

Stark, R. Vaughan Williams, Eugène Ysaÿe, and more.

Free-will donations are welcome.

Reconciling in Christ Sunday • February 2

Welcoming Sunday graphicReconciling in Christ Sunday is February 2! This annual commemoration recognizes ELCA faith communities that have made public stands; welcoming people of all sexual orientation and gender identities. LCH is proudly included among those congregations, having agreed to become an RIC congregation in 1993.

Please join us this Sunday, when we recognize our 27th year of welcoming and affirming LGBT+ persons in the life of the LCH congregation. More information on Reconciling Works can be found at www.reconcilingworks.org.

Please, invite those who may be interested in worshipping in an environment “Welcoming to all.” We look forward to seeing you and all new faces interested in learning about LCH and the ELCA!

Yin & Yang featuring HI Arts Lab • Monday, January 6, 7:00 pm

yin/yang graphicFor the next in our First Mondays concert series, join us as we seek to explore the human condition—as well as the physical world—for the opposites of each other. What does it mean to be opposite one another? To be diametrically opposed to another way of thinking? Or to be physicall so different from one another? One is starving; the other is abundant. One is overjoyed, the other overwhelmed. One is Native Hawaiian, the other Western European. Are we really that far apart from each other?

This performance is produced by HI Arts Lab, Honolulu’s newest performing arts company, bringing a variety of art forms together to create innovative and collaborative experiences. Visit www.hiartslab.org for more information.

Pupus and non-alcoholic drinks will be served before the concert beginning at 6:30.

Free-will donations are welcome.
